In-house only. La Mamounia requires you to use their internal catering team. This simplifies logistics but limits menu flexibility.

our editorial review
La Mamounia is one of the most recognized wedding venues in Morocco, and for good reason. The palace dates back to the 1920s but feels like it exists outside of time. It does not scream for attention; it knows exactly what it is. I remember walking in for a site visit years ago and thinking, this place does not need me to do anything. The staff is warm without being performative, and the space is already so well composed that heavy decor would only get in the way. That is rare in Marrakech.
La Mamounia has several distinct spaces for ceremony and reception, and I have worked events in most of them. The gardens are my first recommendation for outdoor vows under the palm trees, especially during a soft Marrakech sunset around 5pm. The black and white patio is sleek and intimate. It works well for cocktails or a small private ceremony. The grand salon has chandeliers, high ceilings, and real presence. I have seen couples tear up just walking in for the first time. Poolside dinners with candlelight and floating flowers transition naturally into dancing. Most of these spaces photograph well on their own, so you can spend less on decoration than you think.
La Mamounia has 135 rooms, 71 suites, and a few private riads on site, so most of your guests can stay under one roof. That matters more than people realize. Facilities include a spa, traditional hammams, an indoor pool, a gym, a cinema, and tennis courts. Your guests will not be bored between events. I always tell couples to leave time in their schedule for garden portraits, poolside shots at night, and rooftop views of the Atlas Mountains. The light in this property is very forgiving, which your photographer will appreciate.
The food at La Mamounia is one of the main reasons I recommend it. Couples can choose Moroccan, Italian, or Asian fusion menus, and the kitchen executes all of them at a very high level. The desserts are created by Pierre Herme, and the macarons really are as good as everyone says. I have tasted them at four different weddings and they never disappoint. Everything from the welcome drink to the late-night dessert table is carefully presented and fully customizable.
Renting the venue usually starts around 80,000 MAD. Dinner costs begin at about 2,000 MAD per guest, with cocktail hour at 1,000 MAD and open bar packages ranging from 1,200 to 2,000 MAD per person. Private riads start at 25,000 MAD per night and standard rooms from around 7,000 MAD. For a 100-person wedding, I tell couples to plan for 350,000 to 600,000 MAD total depending on choices. That is a wide range, but the final number depends heavily on the menu, bar, and room block.
La Mamounia is polished, organized, and romantic without trying too hard. Everything is in one place, stay, ceremony, dinner, spa, which makes the whole weekend feel smooth for your guests and for you. But it is firmly in the luxury tier, and you will feel that in the budget. It books out well in advance, especially October to April. The venue prefers its own trusted vendors, which means less flexibility for outside suppliers but better coordination overall. I should be honest, the style leans formal. If you want a barefoot, boho wedding, this is not your place. But for an elegant celebration where you do not have to worry about a single detail falling through, La Mamounia is hard to beat in Marrakech.
