Maev Event was founded in Marrakech in 2009 by Safae El Hakym and works under the Studio Maev name. What sets the agency apart is that it builds its own work. Maev runs in-house production workshops staffed by master artisans, woodworkers, metalworkers, electricians and fabric specialists, so much of what you see at their events is designed and made by hand rather than hired in. That is rare in this city, where most planners subcontract every structure and prop. It means Maev can build a custom bar, a bespoke arch or a full set to a drawing, and control the finish themselves. The agency tells us it employs more than 25 full-time staff, keeps dedicated offices and its own workshops, and maintains a permanent team year round rather than assembling freelancers per event. After more than fifteen years it is one of the longer established destination agencies here. The client list is heavily corporate and it is not padding: Louis Vuitton, BCG, St. Regis, Sanofi, Carrefour, PwC, JTI and Hikvision have all hired them. They work well beyond Marrakech, into the Atlas, Ouarzazate and the Tamuda Bay coast, and have produced events as far as Ibiza. This is a production house first and a wedding planner second, and that shapes everything about them.
For a wedding, Maev assigns a project manager and builds the event around its design and fabrication strength. On money, the agency has now put its model in writing and it is a clean one. The planning fee starts at 8,000 euros and moves with the scope and complexity of the event. There is no commission: Maev takes no percentage of what you spend with other vendors, which removes the quiet incentive to walk you toward the expensive florist. Where the brief calls for custom scenography, the decor is designed and produced by their own workshops and that production is quoted as part of the engagement. That is the one number to pin down early. Ask for the planning fee and the production estimate as two separate lines and you will see exactly what you are buying. On service I want to be precise about what is evidence and what is opinion, because the two get blurred in this trade. Their public Google rating sits around 3.9 out of 5. Among couples who have left public reviews, the recurring criticisms are slow email replies, a process that felt disorganised, and a sense of being steered toward a more expensive option. Those are the published opinions of a small number of clients. Maev's position, given to us directly, is that a handful of online reviews cannot represent the hundreds of couples the agency has worked with. That is a fair point, and worth stating plainly: public reviews are a self selecting sample and they skew toward the unhappy. My own reading, which is interpretation and not fact, is that the experience appears to track the project manager you are assigned. So pin that person down by name before you sign, and agree how quickly they will come back to you.
Choose Maev if design and build quality is your priority and you want a team that can fabricate something specific rather than assemble a stock package. For a couple who wants a strong visual concept realised to a high standard, in-house workshops are an advantage most Marrakech planners simply cannot match. French, English and Arabic are covered, and the corporate record means scale and logistics are routine rather than a stretch. The one thing to settle early is the production number. The planning fee is on the record and so is the no commission position, so the money conversation now starts from a far clearer place than it did. What is not published is what a custom build costs, because that depends entirely on what you ask them to make. Get that estimate in writing alongside the fee, and ask what happens to it if the design grows between now and the day.
Maev Event is a serious production studio with a real craft advantage, a heavyweight corporate portfolio and a permanent team behind it. The agency put its fee model in writing, confirmed it takes no commission on your vendor spend, and documented an operating structure the earlier review had no sight of. This is the right planner for a couple who cares most about a custom built, design led celebration. Meet your assigned project manager before you book rather than after, and judge Maev on that person as much as on the studio's showreel. Get the planning fee and the production estimate as two separate written lines. Do that and you are hiring one of the very few teams in Marrakech that can actually build what they draw.
