Yes. Marrakech suits a small wedding well, and most of what makes it work comes from one fact: for most foreign couples the ceremony here is symbolic. Official sources allow a legal marriage in Morocco only in narrow cases (GOV.UK, for example, says a British citizen can marry there only with a Moroccan partner), so couples marry at the town hall or registry office at home and celebrate in Marrakech. That leaves you free to choose the size, the place, the officiant and the words, which is exactly what an elopement or a vow renewal needs.
For a small wedding, start with venues built for a short guest list. Our intimate venues list gathers the venues in the catalog that take 60 guests or fewer: mostly riads in the medina such as Riad 72 and Riad El Fenn, plus a few lodges in the Atlas such as Kasbah du Toubkal. Most of them ask for a two-night minimum, so ask early whether you can book the whole house for your group. In the medina, riads have neighbours and the music stops earlier, so plan a long dinner rather than a late party.
An elopement can be just the two of you, a photographer and, if you want one, an officiant who leads a symbolic ceremony in your language. For the middle of the market in our catalog (October 2026), wedding photographers start at about 1,500 to 1,900 euros and makeup artists at about 300 to 550 euros. A riad roof terrace at sunset, a garden or the Agafay desert all work for two; in the desert some camps have no mains power, so check the lighting and how you get back after dark.
A vow renewal needs no paperwork at all. It is a celebration, so any venue that takes your group can host it and you can write the vows yourselves. It fits easily into an anniversary trip, with a ceremony at sunset and a dinner for the people who came.
April and October are the gentlest months for an outdoor ceremony, and summer is very hot. Book the venue first, because small venues have few dates, then the photographer, and before you pay any deposit check the venue's rules on music, curfew and outside vendors.
