Why WPM Exists
Planning a destination wedding in Marrakech is exciting — but finding honest, transparent information about planners and venues is surprisingly hard. Most review sites accept paid placements, making it impossible to know whether a recommendation is genuine or bought. WPM was founded in 2020 to change that. We started by visiting every wedding venue in Marrakech — from intimate riads in the Medina to grand palaces on the Palmeraie — and interviewing every planner willing to share their fee structure. The result is a ranking platform that prioritises transparency over advertising revenue, giving couples the honest information they need to make confident decisions.
Our Editorial Methodology
Every planner and venue on WPM is assessed across a standardised scoring matrix with four weighted dimensions. Overall Quality (40% weight) is based on direct experience, couple feedback, and the consistency of the service. Transparency (25% weight) measures fee disclosure, contract clarity, and whether pricing is shared upfront. Value for Money (20% weight) evaluates quality relative to cost compared to alternatives in the same tier. Reliability (15% weight) tracks consistency of service delivery, responsiveness, and whether the planner or venue delivers on what was promised. Each dimension is scored on a 1-10 scale. The final Overall Rating is the weighted average, updated quarterly and after each wedding we attend or receive verified feedback on. No planner or venue can pay to improve their ranking — placement is determined solely by scores.
Who We Are
WPM is run by a small editorial team based between Marrakech and Europe. Simone, our lead editor, has attended or helped organise over 100 weddings in Marrakech since 2018 and maintains direct relationships with every planner and venue listed on the platform. Our reviewers visit venues in person, attend wedding showcases, and conduct mystery-shopping calls to verify pricing and responsiveness. We re-visit venues at least once a year and update our ratings after every verified wedding we attend.
Independence & Funding
WPM earns revenue through consultation referral fees — when a couple contacts a planner via our platform and books, the planner pays a small referral fee. This model keeps the platform completely free for couples and ensures our rankings stay independent. We never accept pay-for-placement, sponsored listings, or advertising from the planners or venues we rate. Our editorial decisions are made independently from commercial relationships. If a planner we refer underperforms, we lower their rating regardless of revenue impact.
