I built WPM because I was frustrated with every other wedding directory I encountered in this market. Let me tell you exactly what makes it different, and I will be blunt about why the existing options were not good enough. First, we research pricing publicly. Vendors cannot edit their own listings on WPM. They cannot pay to rank higher. They cannot remove negative data points. In most wedding directories, vendors pay for placement. The planner who spends the most on advertising appears first, regardless of quality. On WPM, rankings are based on a documented 5-dimension framework: reputation, communication, track record, pricing transparency, and editorial fit. Where planners publish fee structures, we link to and document them. See /methodology for the full scoring framework. Second, transparency on planner fees where it is publicly available. We document every planner's published fee structure — whether they advertise flat fees, percentage-based fees, or commission models. Where commission rates or markup policies are disclosed publicly or in client-facing materials, we cite them. Where they are not disclosed, we say so. We do not invent numbers. Most directories just list the planner's starting price and a few nice photos. That is not enough information to make a 5,000 to 13,000 euro hiring decision, which is why we structure each planner page around the 5 dimensions. Third, data-driven tools built from public sources. Our Budget Simulator, Venue Explorer, and Date Optimizer are not generic calculators. They are built from a combination of publicly listed venue and vendor pricing, sample quotes shared by couples in our community, and aggregated industry reports. Specific figures are estimates based on this aggregated data, not invoices we have audited. Here is the important caveat. WPM is a ranking platform, not a wedding planner. We do not plan weddings. We do not earn commissions from the planners or vendors we list. Our role is to give you the information you need to choose the right planner for your specific wedding, and then you work directly with that planner. Think of us as the comparison engine you use before making the decision, not the service provider. Some people ask why planners agree to be listed when we publish their fees and commission rates openly. The answer is simple. Good planners welcome transparency because it differentiates them from operators who hide behind vague pricing. The planners who rank highest on WPM are the ones with clear fee structures, strong client feedback, and consistent delivery. They gain clients through our platform because couples trust the data.
