What a wedding package means in Marrakech
In Marrakech, "wedding package" can mean a venue package, a planner package or an "all-inclusive" offer, and they are not the same thing. A venue package is sold by a hotel, riad or villa: its event spaces, its own catering and part of the setup, priced per guest or per event. A planner package bundles a venue, a team of vendors and the coordination into one quote. "All-inclusive" is a label either of them can use, and it has no fixed meaning, so the list of what is included matters more than the word. WPM does not sell packages or any wedding service: this guide helps you read the ones venues and planners sell, with starting prices from the WPM catalog in October 2026.
What a package usually includes
A venue package usually covers the event spaces for the wedding day, a set dinner menu with waiting staff, and the tables, chairs, linen and tableware. Many add a welcome drink, a wedding cake, simple table flowers, a basic sound system and a coordinator from the venue on the day. A planner package usually adds the planner's time, the vendor bookings and the running of the day, and sometimes a photographer, a DJ and decor. For most foreign couples, the ceremony in any package is symbolic, with no legal effect: a British citizen can marry in Morocco only with a Moroccan partner, the French consulates require one or both partners to live in Morocco and be Muslim, and the American, Belgian and Canadian embassies perform no marriages. So you marry legally at home, at the town hall or registry office, before or after the trip, and our legal requirements guide sets out each country's rules.
What a package usually leaves out
The exclusions matter as much as the inclusions, because they decide the final bill. Start with guest rooms: at an exclusive-use villa or riad the rental may include the bedrooms, while at a hotel, rooms are usually booked and paid for separately. A package is often priced for the wedding day alone, yet 81 of the 106 venues in the catalog ask for a minimum stay of two nights, and weddings often run over two to four days, with welcome drinks before and a brunch after. Drinks are often sold separately from the menu, with alcohol charged by the bottle, by the hour or per guest, and a corkage fee if you bring your own. Airport transfers and shuttles, live music beyond a basic DJ set, and overtime past the venue's music curfew are usually extras too. Finally, check whether service charges and taxes are included or added at the bottom of the bill.
What the parts cost in October 2026
These are starting prices for the middle of the market in the WPM catalog in October 2026: in each group, the middle half of the starting prices falls inside the range given, and the rest sit below or above it. The catalog sorts its 106 venues into luxury, premium and standard tiers, and rental starts at 6,000 to 44,000 euros a night for the 25 luxury venues, 3,000 to 8,000 euros for the 61 premium venues and 2,000 to 3,300 euros for the 20 standard venues. Catering from an independent caterer starts at 40 to 65 euros per guest. A photographer starts at 1,500 to 1,900 euros, a florist at 700 to 1,100 euros, a DJ at 800 to 1,500 euros, and sound and lighting at 1,100 to 1,800 euros. A wedding cake starts at 250 to 400 euros, the bride's makeup at 300 to 550 euros, furniture and tableware rentals at 1,000 to 1,300 euros, and transport such as a wedding car at 200 to 300 euros. Each figure is a floor: it buys a basic version, and the quote for your date, guest count and hours is usually higher.
A worked example: 80 guests, two nights, a premium venue
Take 80 guests and two nights at a premium venue, which is the minimum stay at 47 of the 61 premium venues in the catalog. Rental comes to 6,000 to 16,000 euros for the two nights, twice 3,000 to 8,000 euros. Dinner for 80 guests from an independent caterer comes to 3,200 to 5,200 euros, 80 times 40 to 65 euros, but 45 of the 61 premium venues cater in-house only, and there the venue's own menu price replaces this line. A photographer, a florist, a DJ and sound and lighting add 4,100 to 6,300 euros, and a cake and the bride's makeup add 550 to 950 euros. The starting prices add up to 13,850 to 28,450 euros: a floor for the wedding day itself, not a budget. A full wedding lands well above it once you add guest rooms, drinks, decor, rentals, a planner, transport, the welcome drinks and the brunch. The budget simulator on the WPM homepage prices your own guest count and venue from the same catalog.
Package or build your own?
Among luxury venues the choice is mostly made for you: 23 of the 25 in the catalog cater in-house only, La Mamounia and the Royal Mansour among them, so most palace weddings are a venue package in practice, whatever they are called. A package also makes sense if you are planning from abroad and want one contract, one invoice and one person to call. Building your own, caterer included, is only possible at venues that accept an outside caterer: 16 of the 61 premium venues, Beldi Country Club among them, and 10 of the 20 standard venues. There you choose each vendor and compare quotes line by line, which can save money and lets you decide where it goes, the photographer or the music for example. The trade-off is your time: several contracts, several deposits and someone to coordinate them all on the day.
Questions to ask before you sign
Before you sign, put these questions to the venue or planner and get the answers in writing: is the price per guest or a flat fee, and is there a minimum number of guests? Which nights, events and rooms does it cover, and are service charges and taxes included? Which drinks are in the price, and what is the corkage fee if you bring your own? Can you bring your own photographer, DJ or florist, and at what charge? What time must the music stop, and what does each extra hour cost? If a planner sells the package, how is the planner paid: a fee from you, commissions from the vendors, or both?
Read the fine print
Before you pay anything, read the clauses on the deposit, cancellation and guest numbers. For the deposit, check how much is due at signing, whether any of it is refundable, and when the next payments fall due. For cancellation, check what you owe if you cancel, whether that changes as the date gets closer, and what happens if the venue cancels or the wedding cannot go ahead. For guest numbers, check the date by which the final count is fixed, and whether you then pay for the guests you confirmed or for the contract minimum if fewer people come. Ask for any change to these terms in writing, because a promise made on the phone is hard to prove later.
