A riad wedding is the version of Marrakech most people already picture: a courtyard, zellige, carved cedar, and forty people who can all hear each other. The constraint is size, and it is firm. Most riads seat 30 to 50 for dinner and no amount of clever layout changes that. I favour houses with genuinely old architecture over recent builds dressed to look old, and I note which ones have a kitchen that can cook a wedding dinner rather than breakfast. Access is what couples forget: some medina riads sit a ten-minute walk from the nearest car.
